Bullets vs. Cars

NYFU-study

The New York Firearms Unit, (NYFU), conducted ballistic performance tests on motor vehicles. This study was a continuation of a ballistic study done by Unit Chief Randy Smith and the Firearms Training Unit, (TRDG), several years ago. The results of these tests are of interest to the law enforcement community, and could affect the tactics during a hostile confrontation.

Please note: This digital copy comes from The International Security Driver Association (ISDA) who, in light of recent attacks against police officers, was kind enough to share this information with our community.

    Great work, interesting article!
Did you also try to penetrate the engine block and the wheel rim?
If so, what are the results, are there pictures available? (such results & pics would be highly appreciated for my lectures. (If you need more details concerning my background see my profile on linked in or contact me directly)

    Greetings from Norway,

      Hi Michael
The test were done by the NYPD, so I’m not sure if the did those types of test. I will check and if I find any info I will post it on the website.
      Thanks
